MiniSkills Industrial Blueprint Reading and Shop Math Applications

In this training, trainees will be introduced to fundamental blueprint reading concepts. Basic projections, the importance of title blocks, general and local notes, dimensioning and specialty drawings will be covered. Concepts including perimeter, area and volume will be covered along with time-based calculations and rates calculations. A combination of online learning reinforced with hands-on application activities will be used.

Module 4: Drawing Notes Meaning

Segment 1 – Notes Meaning

Segment 2 – Specifications and Callouts

Module 5: Electrical Schematics, Pneumatic Schematics and Plumbing and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID)

Segment 1 – Component Symbols Identification

Segment 2 – Circuit Diagrams

Segment 3 – Measurements and Readings

Module 6: Shop Calculations

Segment 1 – Calculate Perimeter

Segment 2 – Calculate Area

Segment 3 – Calculate Volume

Module 7: Time-based Calculations

Segment 1 – Time conversions

Segment 2 – Time-based calculations in hours, minutes and seconds

Module 8: Basic Rates Calculations

Segment 1 – Flow Rates Calculations

Segment 2 – Speed Rates Calculations

Upon completion of this course trainees will be able to:

  1. Understand how blueprints are used to accurately depict equipment and machines.
  2. Understand how dimensions, notes and title blocks are used to correctly identify a blueprint and apply it.
  3. Review practical shop math formulas like perimeter, area and volume, time-based calculations and flow rate, speed/feed rate calculations.

Hands-on application with practical activities. NOTE: Calculator REQUIRED for math.

*Course length may vary based on number of trainees, online content completion and comprehension.

 

NOTE:  This training is different from our Construction Print Reading training.
